For years I have tried to read books that are not only theology or ministry related. I tried my hand at fiction multiple times but keep coming back to books about historical events or people instead. Here are two books that I have read this year that were good enough to recommend.
Based on thousands of pages from Leonardo da Vinci’s astonishing notebooks and new discoveries about his life and work, Walter Isaacson “deftly reveals an intimate Leonardo” (San Francisco Chronicle) in a narrative that connects his art to his science. He shows how Leonardo’s genius was based on skills we can improve in ourselves, such as passionate curiosity, careful observation, and an imagination so playful that it flirted with fantasy.
With this book, I decided to go about it the right way and read the book before seeing the movie. (I still haven’t seen the movie.) This book was a quick read but it will stay in my memory for years to come. The level that people will go to for the “Almighty Dollar” is chilling.
Keep Studying!
