Hello all,
Well, since it is Spring Break, I am going to take a quick break from our regularly scheduled programing to spend the week telling you a little bit about the books I have been reading this year.
I read two books that revolved around the idea of being present.
The first book was about how to be present to yourself and the dream God has for your life.
How to Be Here lays out concrete steps we can use to define and follow our dreams, interweaving engaging stories, lessons from biblical figures, insights gleaned from Rob’s personal experience, and practical advice. Rob gives you the support and insight you need to silence your critics, move from idea to action, take the first step, find joy in the work, persevere through hard times, and surrender to the outcome.
The second book was about how to be present to God and to know how to practice the presence of God on a moment by moment basis.
After reading classic contemplative authors Brother Lawrence, Jean-Pierre de Caussade, and Frank Laubach, theologian and pastor Gregory Boyd longed to experience the presence of God for himself. For two decades, he's attempted to implement the "practice of the presence of God" in his own life . . . sometimes succeeding, sometimes failing. What he's learned as a fellow pilgrim on his spiritual journey can help you find true spiritual transformation as you begin to practice the discipline of inviting God into every moment.
Keep Studying!
